Job Title: Business Assurance & Risk Officer

Overall Purpose of Job

To carry out business assurance activities across the business, providing support to the Assurance and Risk Specialist and deputising for them where required.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the Internal Audit programme, working with the Internal Auditors, managers and any other stakeholders to ensure an effective, efficient process
  • Managing the monitoring and progress of all Internal Audit recommendations, ensuring pro-active identification of risks and / or issues and working with managers to complete all actions within the timescales required
  • Ensure existing compliance processes and methodologies are robust, relevant and accurate
  • Lead and manage the Core Control audit plan, ensuring they are appropriate to the operating environment of the business
  • Carry out Core Control Compliance Audits across the business to monitor compliance and recommend areas for improvement
  • Managing the internal assurance programme for the organisation, ensuring compliance / assurance testing of identified areas of the business and monitoring any actions as a result
  • Have an overall awareness of risk management and audit within the sector and help with research into best practice
  • Develop systems for the collection of data to feed into appropriate risk analysis
  • When required, deputise in the absence of Risk, Assurance & Compliance Specialist and undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Business Assurance & Risk team

Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required

  • Awareness of Audit and Risk principles and theories
  • Awareness of the importance of risk management and internal audit
  • Ability to learn management systems protocol
  • Commitment to undertake training and development within the role
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle personal and sensitive data in a confidential manner
  • Ability to problem solve situations and looking at outcome focuses solutions
  • Good verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of, and contribute to the development of, the team
  • Good organisational skills in order to manage own workloads, prioritise accordingly undertake project management and monitoring
  • Ability to work in an efficient way whilst always looking for ways to improve and develop working practises
  • To be receptive to and support new and innovative ideas
