Recruitment and Engagement Assistant

This role is currently temporary until the end of March 2022. However, there is scope for potential extension, depending on external funding arrangements.  

The salary for this position is G4 £17,546 - £18,392 per annum (pro rata).

Please note, we have an agile working environment. Therefore, some of this role will be completed at home.

Locally Adult Social Care and health are under great pressure due to increased demand alongside continued limited capacity for home care and care home placements. The council recognises the need to be innovative and act quickly in response to these pressures, by working with a local provider to meet immediate workforce pressures.

The Proud to Care Recruitment Service, commissioned by North Lincolnshire Council, will be focused on recruiting into the social care sector.

The principal aim of the service is to immediately increase recruitment and retention into the care sector for the winter period and work with care providers to ensure more efficient recruitment processes and localised induction programme is developed to help sustainability of the sector going forward beyond March 2022. 

The Proud to Care Service will operate under the branding of Proud to Care North Lincolnshire Proud to Care aims to raise the profile of working in the care sector, encouraging more people to work in care and play a crucial part in supporting people to remain independent in their own homes.

Overall Purpose of Job

To work as part of a small team to deliver the two part service:


  1. Immediate recruitment and retention campaign for the winter period; attract, recruit and retain sufficient staff over the winter period into the care sector, and support growth to develop continued existing workforce capacity
  2. Provider development working in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council; encourage increased partnership working, enhancing and building on current relationships as well as working with more care providers.


Deal with a range of customers on a daily basis, answer queries and offer information that involves a lot of interaction with the general public (as well as with colleagues) in a variety of methods including face-to-face, over the phone and via email, handling anything from general enquiries to complaints.

Work as part of a team to deliver a consistent, high quality recruitment service, sourcing candidates to fill care industry positions on behalf of client companies. 

Work towards and exceed targets relating to the agreed number of candidates placed and meeting clients requirements.

Assist Recruitment Consultants to use a wide range of media to attract people to apply, guide them through the application process, placing advertisements, giving interviews and matching candidates to the appropriate roles, focusing on specialist areas as appropriate.

Contribute towards the achievement of Ongo Recruitment strategic and operational targets and overall company aims.


Main Responsibilities

Assist in the running of the Proud to care contract in the Recruitment team

Take part in regular events and stands at a range of venues in North Lincolnshire, engaging with the public to market the opportunities and benefits of a career in the care industry.

Offer help, advice and signposting to ensure every customer who comes through the door leaves with information given in verbal or written form or an appointment with the appropriate member of staff

Welcome visitors, offer refreshments and prepare meeting rooms as required.

Carry out registration processes with potential candidates as requested by the recruitment team.

Handle administrative tasks including updating the ADAPT-UX system and ensure reference checks on candidates are in place.

Maintain positive working relationships with potential candidates. 

General office duties including dealing with incoming and outgoing mail, photocopying, filing and sending faxes, ordering stationery and other products

Participate in personal support and supervision, undertake personal development training as appropriate to the post.

Undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grading of the post as considered appropriate.

  • Organisational ability to handle multiple priorities, act quickly and decisively, work to changing strict timescales and deadlines and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to upload vacancies onto the Proud to Care website (training provided)

  • A very good judge of character
  • Ability to work flexibly with some out of hours working including evenings and weekends where necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to use clear language within a variety of contexts
  • Good general education including numeracy, literacy and writing skills
  • Good standard of IT skills and ability to learn to use internal IT systems
  • A strong commitment towards Equality and Diversity principles
  • Ability to transport yourself across North Lincolnshire
