Overall Purpose of Job:
To carry out bricklaying and plastering tasks to a high standard in occupied and empty properties, in a courteous and polite manner, and in accordance with the relevant safety regulations and organisational policies and procedures.
About You:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience as a Bricklayer and or Plasterer, ideally in a similar environment. If you have bias to one trade you must be able to carry out the Main Responsabilities of the other listed below.
- Knowledge of damp and mould-related issues.
- Ability to identify and remedy property defects in a cost-effective manner.
- The ability to work efficiently independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Main Responsibilities:
- Bricklaying Works:
- Undertake internal and external bricklaying tasks including but not limited to:
- Repairs to brickwork
- Laying or levelling concrete floors
- Laying or levelling paving slabs and edging
- Laying or renewing concrete paths
- Building and repairing brick corners, pillars, and piers
- Building and repairing cavity walls
- Pointing for facework
- Creating or bricking up door and window openings
- Creating ramps and steps
- Repairing/replacing damp courses
- Installing and maintaining balustrades
- Installing and repairing fencing and fence posts
- Carrying out drainage repairs
- Removing, installing, and repairing floor and wall tiling, including ceramic and thermoplastic tiles
- Plastering and Rendering Works:
- Undertake internal and external plastering and rendering works, including but not limited to:
- Mixing plastering materials
- Cutting and fixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings
- Cutting and fixing angle beads around window and door reveals
- Preparing surfaces before plastering
- Plastering walls, ceilings, and reveals using all types of plaster and plasterboard
- Rendering walls and applying proprietary textured coatings
- Removing, replacing, or repairing damaged plasterwork
- Minor Repairs:
- Carry out other minor repairs to walls as part of making them suitable for painting or decorating.
- Damp and Mould:
- Identify and categorize the root causes of damp and mould.
- Develop and deliver works required to rectify damp and mould issues within your skill set.
- Customer Interaction:
- Be customer-focused at all times and effectively communicate and interact with people at all levels.
- Technology Use:
- Work with various forms of technology, including an iPad, to ensure tasks are deployed and completed correctly and efficiently.
- Safeguarding:
- Be aware of safeguarding issues related to vulnerable adults and children and report any concerns via Ongo’s Safeguarding policies and procedures.
