Waste Collection Driver (Temporary) - Scunthorpe
Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:45-14:45
Pay Rate: £14.13 per hour
Start: ASAP (subject to driving assessment)

We are recruiting a Waste Collection Driver to support local waste and recycling operations.
Overall Purpose of the Job
Driving a 7.5T vehicle to deliver and collect burgundy bins Monday to Friday, with potential overtime on Saturdays.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive large refuse collection or stillage vehicles (HGV Class C)
- Operate bin‑lifting equipment and assist with safe handling of containers
- Complete daily vehicle checks
- Lead and support a small team of loaders
- Provide customer advice on waste and recycling
- Update in‑cab systems or complete paper records
- Manage contamination issues and ensure accurate documentation
Skills & Experience
- HGV Class 2 licence
- Driver CPC and digital tachograph card
- Confident using IT and recording systems
- Strong communication skills
- Experience handling challenging situations
- Good manual handling awareness
- Ability to walk several miles per day
- Knowledge of the local area and waste services
- Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
