Job Summary
Support the People and Culture Team, building strong partnerships across the business, working with them closely to shape and implement effective people policies and strategies.
To support in delivery of the Corporate Plan and People Strategy, through collaboration across the team, embedding the organisation’s vision and values to enhance performance and capability.
To strive for continuous improvements of the People and Culture function, exploring and implementing efficiencies and innovative practices.

Main Responsibilities
- To provide clear and consistent advice and coaching on a range of employee relations matters including grievance, disciplinary, capability and absence management as well as others in line with Ongo’s policy and current legislation.
- Support managers and Leadership to conduct investigations in relation to incidents of misconduct, capability and absence management in line with employment legislation and policies.
- Support the chair of any formal hearing (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, capability) by providing procedural guidance and ensuring a fair, transparent and legally compliant process is followed.
- Support organisational reviews, including supporting consultation and change-management activities, and ensuring transparent communication and support for all affected colleagues.
- Support TUPE transfers, ensuring a smooth and legal compliant transition for both incoming or outgoing colleagues.
- To assist in delivering performance and reward programmes that recognise and reward critical skills, capabilities, experience and performance.
- To support the development and implementation of employment policies and practices, ensuring that they reflect best practice, legislative requirements and promote diversity, equality and inclusion
- Support with the design and delivery of leading edge learning and development initiatives to maximise the potential of Ongo colleagues, including delivery of the corporate and manager inductions
- Ensure accurate, timely and streamlined payroll processing and checking, maintaining compliance with all legislation and regulatory requirements.
- To have a good understanding of the Group’s Pension Scheme and to be able to deal with pension queries and assist Finance with returns.
- Working in partnership with external partners to ensure the effective and efficient provision of People and Culture services including Recruitment, Occupational Health, Payroll, Pensions, Learning and Development and Counselling provision.
- Promote our wellbeing policies and initiatives that support a healthy and sustainable workforce, ensuring our colleagues make effective use of the available benefits and services on offer.
- To make best use of the systems and data available to help inform decision making and provide stakeholders with sound data and advice.
- To assist with audits and support with any recommendations made within the required timeframe, and ensure full compliance of all employment matters.
- Co-ordinate the pay benchmarking exercise in line with Ongo’s Reward and Recognition policy.
- Support the delivery of an effective and collaborative business partnering approach across the business to support them in embedding their people management related responsibilities, in a way which ensures the values and behaviours of the organisation.
- Assist in ensuring that, in all aspects of the employment experience, colleagues are positively engaged, leading to increased productivity and involvement. using data such as IIP, Best Companies and surveys, to inform any areas for improvement.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups as required
- To assist with the undertaking of the People & Culture Assistant role in their absence.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties from time to time
Skills, Competence, Experience Required
- Extensive experience in a strategic HR or People Partnering role.
- Sound knowledge of People and Culture policies, procedures, employment law and good practice.
- Relationship management skills.
- Up to date knowledge of company terms and conditions of service
- CIPD Level 5 or substantial equivalent HR experience, is highly desirable.
- Thorough understanding of payroll and pension processes
- Research & Investigative skills
- Ability to write letters and reports using own initiative
- Communication skills with all staff and external contacts, including influencing, questioning and presentational skills
- Strong ICT skills including knowledge of People and Culture systems
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Coaching skills, preferably holding a coaching qualification.
- Mediation skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills for producing and evaluating business metrics
- Agility and responsiveness to shifting team priorities
