Employability Day event empowers over 100 local people

On Friday 20 June, we hosted a successful Employability Day event at our Cole Street office in Scunthorpe, welcoming over 100 attendees eager to explore new career opportunities and gain valuable support in on their journey into employment.

The event brought together a wide range of local organisations and employers, including British Steel, HSBC, Humberside Fire and Rescue, and Matthews & Tannert, to showcase the training, support, and job vacancies available to the community.

Attendees had access to resources including CV writing assistance, interview technique workshops, free training opportunities, and live job vacancies.

More than 20 individuals signed up for ongoing support, marking a significant step forward in their employment journey.

Pete Tedde, Employment Support and Life Coach Lead said, “It was fantastic to see so many people engaging with the support available. Events like this are vital in helping people build confidence, gain skills, and take that next step into work.”

Hugh, one of the attendees said, “I’ve been chatting to the work coaches and signed up for some courses. I’d recommend this event to everyone, it’s been really good and really helpful. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. Thank you.”

Other local businesses and organisations who came along included John Leggott College, North Lincolnshire Council, Rilmac, National Careers Service, DWP, Evolve Business Developments, We Are With You, National Employer Training, BauWatch UK, and ATCS.

Attendees were entered into a raffle with generous prizes donated by local businesses, including a BBQ meat pack from Taylor’s Butchers, a £50 voucher from Rydale Clothing in Leeds, and a 32” smart television from Euronics.

The event was a huge success, thanks to the support of local businesses as well as colleagues, and highlights our commitment to supporting local communities and being customer focused.
