Apprentice Electrician 

Job Summary
To work towards an electrical qualification, carry out a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing work across domestic and commercial properties. The role requires willingness to learn, adherence to electrical safety standards, and a commitment to providing high-quality customer service. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring all work within the apprenticeship is completed to the required timescales and deadlines as set out by the college and employer.

You are expected to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and take a proactive approach to health and safety, creating a safe operating environment for all. This work involves working at heights.

Main Responsibilities
Within the apprenticeship you will work towards being able to effectively carry out the below tasks;

  • Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work at domestic, commercial and industrial premises
  • Undertake inspection, testing, and certification of new and existing installations in accordance with BS 7671.
  • Accurately diagnose faults and system failures across a range of electrical systems, delivering effective and timely solutions.
  • Complete repairs of systems effectively and efficiently to a high standard, technically sound, and compliant with Company policies, client specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Carry out periodic inspection reports (EICR) for domestic, commercial, and industrial clients.
  • Accurately manage and maintain all certification and documentation related to reactive and planned maintenance activities.
  • Complete risk assessments prior to commencing work to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Adhere to all internal health and safety procedures, as well as site-specific safety requirements, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Be flexible in working hours and participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota if required to support service continuity.
  • Take responsibility for the proper use, maintenance, and security of company equipment, including vehicles, tools, and electronic devices (e.g., iPads).
  • Actively participate in all mandatory training and development activities to ensure compliance with current legislation and to maintain professional competence.
  • Keep up to date with current electrical regulations, best practice, and technical developments.
  • Promote the company’s values and deliver excellent customer service on every project.
  • Carry out course work and work to deadlines to ensure completion of portfolio.
  • Please be advised this role does require working at heights, roof work and solar installation, this is a mandatory element for this role.

Skills, Competence, Experience Required 

  • Apprentice must be at level 2/3 in their apprenticeship journey
  • The ability to work within the team and use your own initiative
  • Full UK driving license desirable
  • Be able to pass a DBS check is a must
  • Work will not always be local and so travel to sites will be expected, flexibility around start and end times is expected to accommodate.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Excellent Attention to detail and problem solving skill
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Notice Period -1 month

Working Hours
Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pm, however availability between 7am-6pm is expected to allow travel, hours will not exceed 40 per week.
