Job Summary
Lead on and be pro-active in the delivery of all business assurance activity and promoting a positive risk culture across the business
- To manage and deliver on business assurance and risk activities across the business
- To ensure that risks are identified and managed, providing assurance in the effectiveness of controls

Main Responsibilities
- Lead for operational risk reporting across the business, creating informative and accurate reports to present to the Leadership team, including Board / Committees
- Embed the Risk Management Framework and deliver training and briefings on this matter to colleagues across the business
- Work with and support colleagues to ensure timely and accurate completion of risk assessments and risk registers
- Lead and coordinate lessons learned from risk events throughout our operating environment, providing summary reports as to the lessons learned and outcomes
- Carry out risk and control assessments, ensuring any issues are reported immediately with supporting recommendations for corrective actions
- To support operational teams in developing Business Continuity Plans and Business Impact Assessments that are fit for purpose and ensure business resilience
- To manage and provide assurance to the Leadership team, including Board, that the Asset & Liabilities Register is accurate and up to date
- Carry out checks, monitor and review the risk and controls in place for significant risks to the organisation, making recommendations for improvement where necessary
- Provide appropriate support in the assurance mapping exercises lead on by the BA&R Manager
- Ensure the business is kept up to date with pending regulatory changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on the business
- Undertake Horizon Scanning exercises for senior management team
- Carry out in depth assessments on areas of non-compliance highlighted providing a recommendation report to the BA&R Manager
Skills, Competence, Experience Required
- Must have experience and/or relevant qualification in internal audit, risk management or compliance
- Excellent understanding of social housing regulation and legislation
- Experience of working in the social housing sector, local government or other regulated environment
- Understanding of the importance of risk management and Internal Audit and ability to align with organisational goals
- Ability to use own competence and expertise to carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective actions
- To design and deliver on audit and assurance plans
- To lead on lesson learned exercises which will alter policy and service delivery decisions
- To make recommendations for organisational wide and service improvement, including policy, process and operational effectiveness
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to identify business risks and communicate to relevant managers and leaders
- Ability to work to tight and changing deadlines and provide work at short notice at times
- Able to work effectively and efficiently, prioritizing own workload and working to agreed timescales
- Skilled in MS Office applications (demonstrating high level of knowledge in Excel and Word) with the ability to adapt to new systems
- Have attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret data and present information in a clear and logical manner
- Ability to identify problems and come up with effective solutions
- Able to analyse complex information and present this clearly
- Ability to work innovatively to engage effectively with colleagues across the business to promote and embed a positive, pro=active risk culture
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with a range of people
- Ability to keep up to date with legislative and regulatory changes
- Be receptive and a champion of change
