Responsible to: Specialist Housing Manager

This is a job working for Ongo.  A driving licence is required and travel between sites is essential to cover multiple sites around the area.

Salary is £28,720

Job Summary

Support tenancy sustainability, wellbeing, and social inclusion for older people, vulnerable tenants, and those with disabilities living in Retirement and Independent Living Schemes, as well as general housing stock. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, provide housing-related support, and help foster active, safe, and connected communities.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Provide tailored housing-related support and create/monitor support plans for tenants.
  • Organise and deliver wellbeing activities in schemes, ensuring health and safety compliance.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support scheme activities.
  • Assist tenants with accessing financial advice, benefits, and charitable grants.
  • Refer tenants to internal and external specialist services to sustain tenancies.
  • Manage communal facilities (lounges, guest rooms, laundries, therapy rooms) to maximise usage and ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of tenancies, communal areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and maintenance.
  • Monitor cleaning contracts and communal repairs, liaise with contractors and tenants.
  • Welcome new tenants and introduce them to scheme services and facilities.
  • Support tenants in sustaining their tenancies by developing action plans when property conditions fall below tenancy standards.
  • Provide operational cover for Myos House (Dementia Independent Living Scheme) as needed.
  • Maintain tenant engagement through meetings and consultation activities.
  • Keep accurate manual and digital records; report monthly scheme statistics.
  • Monitor Switch2 Heat Network data and support tenants with arrears.
  • Promote use of digital tools like the My Home app and social media.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for vulnerable adults and children.

 

Skills, Competence, Experience Required

  • Experience supporting vulnerable people, especially older adults and those disabilities.
  • Knowledge of housing, benefits, and tenancy support.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver wellbeing activities.
  • Understanding of health and safety and property management.
  • Good organisational, administrative, and ICT skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Commitment to customer service and diversity.
  • Level 3 Coaching qualification (or willingness to achieve it) desirable.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
