Job Title: Content and Digital Media Apprentice

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in digital marketing, content creation and storytelling while completing a Level 3 Storyteller / Multi-channel Marketing apprenticeship.

The apprentice will support Ongo Recruitment, Ongo Communities and wider colleagues to tell positive stories, promote services and share the impact of our work with tenants, customers, candidates, employers and partners.

The role will involve creating engaging content for social media, websites, campaigns, newsletters and internal communications, including short videos, photos, graphics, case studies and written updates.

The apprentice will learn how to plan content, research audiences, schedule posts, monitor engagement and use feedback and data to improve future marketing activity.

Main Responsibilities

  • Digital content and storytelling: Create engaging written, photo and video content that brings Ongo’s work to life, including good news stories, apprentice journeys, candidate success stories, community activity and employer partnerships.
  • Social media and campaigns: Support the planning, creation, scheduling and monitoring of content across social media channels, helping to promote vacancies, events, services and campaigns.
  • Video and photography: Capture and edit short-form video and photography for use on LinkedIn, Facebook, websites and internal communications, making sure content is clear, professional and on brand.
  • Website and digital updates: Support with updating website content, campaign pages and digital materials, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and kept up to date.
  • Marketing support: Assist with marketing plans, campaign materials, events, newsletters, presentations and other promotional activity for Ongo Recruitment and Ongo Communities.
  • Audience research and feedback: Help research target audiences, gather feedback and use insight to make content more relevant and engaging.
  • Data and reporting: Monitor basic social media and campaign analytics, record what is working well and help prepare simple updates for the team.
  • Brand and accessibility: Follow Ongo brand guidelines and support inclusive, accessible communications that are suitable for different audiences.
  • Working with teams: Build positive relationships with colleagues across Recruitment, PR & Marketing, Skills and Personal Development, Social Value and community services to identify stories and content opportunities.
  • Apprenticeship completion: Actively take part in the Level 3 apprenticeship, apply learning to day-to-day work and build a portfolio of evidence through real projects.
  • Other duties: Undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the apprenticeship and grading of the post.

Skills, Competence, Experience Required

  • A genuine interest in digital marketing, social media, video, photography and storytelling.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly for different audiences.
  • Creative approach with an eye for detail and a willingness to try new ideas.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams; experience of Canva, social media platforms or video editing would be helpful.
  • Confident using social media and willing to learn how to create professional content for work channels.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several tasks, deadlines and requests.
  • Able to work well as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues, customers and partners.
  • Able to use own initiative, ask questions and seek feedback to improve.
  • A positive, proactive and adaptable approach to work.
  • Maths and English at grade C/4 or equivalent, or willingness to work towards functional skills if required by the training provider.
  • Ability to take part in Level 3 apprenticeship training and complete learning, portfolio and assessment requirements.
