Ongo Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of North Lincolnshire Council for a dedicated and reliable Refuse Driver. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver who takes pride in their work and enjoys making a positive contribution to the local community.

This is primarily a driving role (approximately 80% of the time), operating refuse collection and stillage vehicles. You may also be required to support operations within waste collection services, waste transfer stations, and household recycling centres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive refuse collection vehicles and stillage vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Operate bin lifting equipment and assist with the movement of waste and recycling containers.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and safety checks.
  • Lead and support a small team of loaders.
  • Provide excellent customer service and advice regarding waste and recycling disposal.
  • Maintain accurate records using in-cab technology or paper-based systems.
  • Identify and manage contamination issues.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and securely.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and work in a safe manner at all times.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
  • Current Driver CPC qualification.
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Good communication and customer service abilities.
  • Experience completing electronic and paper-based records.
  • Confidence dealing with challenging situations and customer enquiries.
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling practices.
  • The ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the local area would be advantageous.
