Youth Worker

Location: Scunthorpe
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Working Hours: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4:30pm–6:30pm, with occasional additional hours during school holidays

On behalf of The Arc in Westcliffe, Scunthorpe, we are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join their friendly and innovative team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive difference in their local community.

You will work alongside the Westcliff Youth Mentor, supporting weekly activities and events for young people aged 8 and upwards. You’ll help create a welcoming, positive and inclusive environment where young people can have fun, build confidence, develop new skills and reach their potential.

About the Role

As a Youth Worker, you will:

• Support the Westcliff Youth Mentor in delivering weekly events, activities and programmes.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.

• Engage with young people and understand their needs, interests and aspirations.

• Encourage participation in activities and community initiatives.

• Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

• Support young people with their personal development and confidence.

• Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to the activities programme.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with young people aged 8–18.

• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Is approachable, enthusiastic and positive.

• Has a genuine passion for supporting young people.

• Understands some of the challenges young people may face.

• Can build strong relationships and engage young people effectively.

• Is flexible and happy to get involved in a variety of activities.

Requirements

• Must either hold a current Enhanced DBS Check or be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check for the role.

• Experience of working with young people is essential.

• A genuine interest in supporting young people from diverse backgrounds.
