Recycling/Yard Operative

Location: Scunthorpe
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent for the right person

We are currently recruiting for Recycling/Yard Operatives to join a busy and established recycling and waste management operation based in Scunthorpe.

Our client operates within the waste and recycling sector, processing and recovering recyclable materials and helping to divert waste from landfill. Due to continued demand, they are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to join their team.

The Role

As a Recycling/Yard Operative, you will support the day-to-day running of the recycling and yard operation. Your duties will include:

• Sorting and separating recyclable materials

• Working on the recycling/picking line

• Manually handling and moving waste and recyclable materials

• Loading and unloading materials and vehicles

• Identifying and removing unsuitable or non-recyclable items

• Moving materials around the yard

• Keeping the yard, work areas and equipment clean and tidy

• Carrying out general yard duties as required

• Working safely around HGVs, vehicles, machinery and mobile plant

• Following all site health and safety procedures

• Reporting hazards, spillages, damaged equipment or other issues

• Supporting the wider site team with general operational duties

The role involves physical/manual work and may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions, so candidates should be comfortable working in a busy industrial environment.

Previous experience in recycling, waste management, yard work, warehouse, production or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential as training will be provided.

This role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.
