We are recruiting a Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop practical, hands-on skills and build a career in industrial maintenance. As an apprentice, you will receive training and mentorship from experienced mechanics, working on a variety of maintenance tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.
You will be studying towards a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations engineering technician and the course is expected to last 36 months including the end point assessment.
The role is working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week.
The salary for this role is £6.40. Therefore, offers the opportunity to earn whilst you learn. The wage will increase to NMW following the initial 12 months for aged 19 or over.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Learn and apply technical skills to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Support in the installation, calibration, and testing of machinery and equipment.
- Maintain maintenance records and document repairs, installations, and equipment performance.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work under the guidance of senior mechanics and technicians to complete assigned tasks.
- Follow work orders and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all machinery operates efficiently.
- Assist with maintaining spare parts inventory and order parts when necessary.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and machinery to detect potential issues and notify senior mechanics.
- Take part in ongoing training to develop skills in various mechanical and technical fields.
Qualifications:
GCSE Maths & English grade 4 or equivalent (required).
Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required
- Strong interest in mechanical and technical work, with a desire to learn.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver’s license (preferred, depending on location).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (e.g., outdoor, factory, or warehouse settings).
