Job Title: Waste Operative (Site Attendant) – x4 Positions

Location: Scunthorpe, DN16
Start Date: 9th July 2025
Duration: Temporary (Approx. 2 months)
Pay: £12.85 per hour
Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:15 PM (37 hours/week)

Job Overview:

We are recruiting 4 reliable Waste Operatives to work on behalf of North Lincolnshire Council. This is a hands-on role supporting local waste and recycling services. You’ll be based primarily at Household Recycling Centres but will also assist with waste collection and at transfer stations.

Main Duties:

• Assist the public with disposing of household, industrial, and commercial waste.
• Provide recycling advice and guidance to customers.
• Support drivers with vehicle manoeuvring on-site.
• Operate bin lifting and refuse equipment safely.
• Keep the site clean, tidy, and well-organised.
• Manage site containers effectively and record waste levels.
• Handle cash and issue receipts where required.
• Accurately complete and secure paperwork.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Manual handling experience.
• Ability to walk several miles per day and work outdoors in all weather.
• Basic machinery operation (training provided if necessary).
• Good local area knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to deal with the public calmly and professionally.
• Reliable, flexible, and a good team player.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience working at a waste facility.
• Understanding of environmental permit regulations.
• WAMITAB qualification or equivalent.
• Certificates to operate a loading shovel or JCB 360 (desirable but not essential).

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Physically demanding – lifting, walking, and manual tasks throughout the shift.
• Interaction with the public, which can occasionally be challenging.
